I like to think about things
On the gloomy, dark and stormy day, like today
When I am trapped in the house
This body
Sometimes I don’t recognize my own reflection
Then I remember it is not even me
I fit in this face so perfectly
They think that this person was me
The shoe shrunk, and the school belt got ridiculously petit
Acquiescent little obedient creature
Couldn’t understand what this sorcery was
Still, the freckles on her pale skin
Reminds me of her summer's swing
I do not want this frame
I am barely even enjoying their game.
I killed a bee too, last Thursday
I don't like the feeling of killing
Look at me, it was not my fault
I was just ...
“You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose
style.”
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

Favourite poem? Too many to list...but right now top of mind - each man kills the thing he loves, by each let this be heard, some do it with a bitter look, some with a flattering word, the coward does it with a kiss, the brave man with a sword. Oscar Wilde, The ballad of the Reading Gaol.

I love this poem. My favorite poem? A little cliche but I'm a sucker for The Tyger by William Blake. (Checking in from the A to Z Challenge. I did a post about killing today too. Weird)
ReplyDeleteDo not go Gentle into that Good Night by Dylan Thomas. Hands down my favorite poem.
ReplyDeleteAnd your poem is quite gripping too
Got the chill pill after reading the poem! Good work!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite poem, since my childhood is "Breakfast In Bed" by Kenn Nesbitt.

Chilling poem, love it. One of my favourite poems is Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken. I tend to have poems for the season I find myself in. This one is about looking back and wondering 'what if ...'

ReplyDeletemy favorite - difficult choice to make - but like Linda above, one of my favorites is 'The Road Not Taken' and two others are 'The Owl and the Pussycat' and Ozymandias.. they were the first ones that popped in my head..
This was so creepy.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why people kill the one they love.I dont understand this kind of love
A Peice Of My Life
You fit in that face so perfectly maybe that is still you!
ReplyDeletePoem that I think of right now is The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock By T. S. Eliot
T.S. Eliot Gosh I love his work! Here is a secret, I cry every time I read him. He is so eloquent. Even when it comes to religious themes he is so darn compelling. Absolutely beautiful.
DeleteThanks! everyone for stopping by! Would love to read the poem you mentioned. Some of them I have already read. <3
